Your physical and behavioral traits do not define who you are. Your true nature is not tied to any human factors. Your worth is determined by the moral nature of God upon you and by what God says about you. Therefore, knowing what the moral characteristics of God consist of and what God says about you, is fundamental for your physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual well-being. An acquisition of such knowledge also forms the basis of unlimited opportunities and accomplishment in your life and in your eternal destiny
God is Holy
“For I am the Lord your God ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy. As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the lusts in your ignorance; But as He which called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conduct; because it is written, be ye Holy: For I AM HOLY.”1
God is holy. Holiness is His nature. God is completely set apart and separated from sin and evil. That is what holiness is. God’s distinctiveness lies in His holiness. Holiness sets God apart from any other little beings which He created. God’s holiness permeates all other attributes that He possesses. His love, mercy, knowledge, power, judgement and anger are holy. God is glorious in holiness2. He sits on the throne of his holiness. Holiness becomes his house and His habitation is that of holiness3. God’s words are of holiness4. He is to be worshiped in the beauty of His holiness5.
Be ye Holy
God created us sinless with a capacity to choose to remain sinless or to sin6. From the creation of the world and forever, God’s command to mankind does not change; “Be ye holy”. Thus, choosing to remain holy separated from sin and evil will bring us into a state of vibrant and ardent fellowship with God. It will also cause us to experience a perfect health, not subject to violent behavior, substance abuse, unintentional injuries, immoral lifestyle, diseases and death.
Unfortunately, our first parents, Adam and Eve chose to disobey God, and passed the consequences of their disobedience ( depravity, guilt and death) to all human race7. The original holiness and righteous upon man was marred. Man’s wisdom, understanding, knowledge and skills become corrupted. Sadly, our young men and women still continue in the same pattern of making wrong choices.
It is inconceivable and impossible for mankind to work his or her way into holiness. Man’s possession of holiness and righteousness is eternally linked with his relationship to Jesus. This is a positional holiness. It is an imputed holiness upon you because of your relationship with Christ. You do not work to earn it. It is by grace through faith in Christ. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”,8. Jesus Christ is the God-man, perfect, holy and sanctified who became sin for us, who knew no sin that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ9. Jesus is the mediator between God and a sinful man. He is the way, the truth, and the life and the only name given among men whereby mankind must be saved10. Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection are the only solutions for man’s depraved nature, guilt and death.11
For you to be free from your depraved nature, guilt and death and to put on the holiness and righteous of God, this is the choice you must have to make; “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God; even to them that believe on his name”12. You must accept that you are a sinner and that Jesus Christ alone can save you. You must repent of your sins and invite Christ to come into your heart and dwell. A miracle of transformation takes place in your spirit and soul immediately Jesus comes into your heart to dwell by the Holy Spirit.13 You become born again and a new creature in Christ14. The image of Christ which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness is imputed on you. You become a partaker of God’s holiness15. Now that the Holy Spirit has come in to dwell in your life; you must bring forth fruit unto holiness; continue in holiness to be blessed; govern your lives according to holiness; present your heart blameless in holiness before God: perfect holiness in the fear of God; live in holiness before God all your days and follow holiness without which no man shall see God.16 Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God17.
