CONSEQUENCES OF MAKING WRONG CHOICES—part one

Choice making is the process of thinking, reasoning and judging leading to a selection of an option from two or more options. We make choices almost every minute of our lives. You made a choice to visit our website and to be reading this write up right now. There are simple and common choices to make each day such as, the choice of what to eat, drink, wear, and so on. There are also great and challenging choices to make including; the choice to give Jesus Christ the first place in your life; the choice of what profession to pursue or what business type to get engaged in: and the choice of who to get marry to and stay together in marriage till death do your part. It is instructive to mention that every choice you make comes with either positive or negative consequences.

One of the greatest gifts to mankind by God is the capacity to make choices. Our first parents, Adam and Eve had the privilege to be the first human beings to exercise the gift of choice making. “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die”1.

The most important choice we must make in our lives is the choice to give our first love to God and to obey Him. Unfortunately, Adam and Eve failed to make the right choice between eating every tree of the garden and eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They failed to give their first love to God. They failed to obey Him. Instead of choosing to obey God’s command, they chose to listen to the lies of the devil. They chose to eat the forbidden “tree of the knowledge of good and evil”. Now read this, “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat”2. By choosing to eat the forbidden tree, Adam and Eve marred the holy and righteous nature of God upon their lives. They lost their first love to God. They lost the peace of God in their lives. They became depraved, guilty and were spiritually dead. They inherited sinful nature from the devil and passed it on to all generation. “By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all that have sinned”3. No wonder you were brought forth in iniquity and in sin did you mother conceive you4. Friends listen to this, what you choose to look at, listen to, touch, smell, and taste without God’s will, will definitely bring you to destruction, hardship, pain, and death.

Sadly enough, many young men and women still continue the same pattern of making wrong choices today. Failure to make God the first choice in their lives has driven many young men and women to violent behavior, Substance abuse, unintentional injuries, immoral behavior and destruction.
Wholesome Life Transformation is well positioned to help our young men and women to choose making right choices a priority in their lives.
